Basic Information About Web Hosting For Beginners

Web hosting can get confusing for a beginner. There is so much information about web hosting that a basic beginner in Internet marketing could get lost. Finding the best web hosting company for your needs can become overwhelming.

Basic information about web hosting for beginners depends a lot on what type of  Internet business you are going to run. Are you planning on running only one web site and need only one basic web hosting account? Or are you planning on having several web sites that require a resellers web hosting package?

Having a business model in mind helps to determine which type of web hosting you will require.

First off there are a lot of web hosting companies that say they are the best or the cheapest. Well the cheapest does not mean that they are the best.  The best web hosting company is one that has c-panel interface and also has great support. For the beginner having great support is essential. Two of the best companies that I know of for the best support is Hostprise and HostGator. These may not be the cheapest companies but they definitely offer the best support on the Internet for your web hosting needs. Plus they both have a c-panel interface.

You will probably see a lot of people pushing Blue Host as the best hosting company around. This is as far from the truth as you can get. The reason Blue Host is recommended most is because they pay their affiliates the most as far as web hosting companies. Blue Host is the worst. So stay away. Internet marketers are quite often like used car salesmen and the bottom line is they lie to get the top dollar.

If you are looking to run only one website you could possibly get away with using a shared hosting package. This works fine if you are planning on running only one e-commerce store. But most likely you will be operating more than one web site. Even with a store you will need supporting sites to rank in Google so buyers can find you. Do Not, I repeat, Do Not plan on putting more than one web site on one account. This could come back to haunt you later. I have learned this from personal experience from when I was a beginner and I did not know better. The web hosting companies say you can do this but it will hurt your sites down the road.

For many web hosting companies if you exceed your bandwidth they will cancel your account in a heartbeat. They will not notify you they will just shut you down. Then you have lost all your web sites and have no way of retrieving them. Hostprise and HostGator will notify you in advance via email if you start to exceed your bandwidth so you have the opportunity to upgrade to a higher bandwidth package. If you have a profitable web site that get tons of search traffic it does not take long to burn up bandwidth. This is why I do not recommend a shared web hosting package.

A resellers web hosting package is the best route to go if you are serious about making money online with your web sites. Even if you as a beginner think you will only need one web site if things change down the road, as it did with me, then you will be all set to grow. A resellers hosting package is not that much more costly than a shared hosting package. But the benefits to a resellers package is huge. You are able to set how much bandwidth each site gets according to that sites needs. You could have 100 web sites on one resellers account for only a couple dollars more versus having paid for one shared hosting account for one site.

You may also find that you will need dedicated hosting for small business. These are quite a bit more expensive but you do have more control over your server. Having a dedicated server will provide your sites with a higher level of security, speed, and uptime. You will have the capability to go far beyond the resource limitations found in a shared hosting environment. This is normally not a choice most small businesses chose unless you are expecting huge amounts of traffic. Dedicated hosting will start at over $150 monthly. You can always upgrade later if you find you need something this big.

Other than your chosen domain name your web hosting company is your most important asset. Just like a brick and mortar business, not only will you business name bring you customers, but if your building is run down or has to be closed due to being in the wrong location or being in a shaky structure, you will lose business. Having the right web hosting company is just as important. you need a web hosting company that you know will be up and running 99.9% of the time. Many web hosting companies do not have these credentials. I know quite a few marketers that go with different companies than I do and they are down due to there server providers. I have never had that issue with the companies I use.

There are so many variables in finding a web hosting company for you. I will be making a future post to aid you in the basic information about web hosting for beginners. Until then read more about web hosting companies before you decide on one particular web hosting company.
